As the school year comes to a close, we want to extend our congratulations to our retirees- Michelle Maher (5th grade) and Jill Eberhart (2nd grade).
Thank you for your years of dedication, hard work, and the many lives you’ve impacted along the way. Your commitment to our students, staff, and community has made a lasting difference, and we will always value you as part of our school family.
Wishing you all the best in this exciting new chapter — enjoy retirement!💚🖤

In 5th grade we're in the process of building a rollercoaster that will take the longest amount of time from start to finish. The teams of engineers are problem-solving, making adjustments and working together to complete this challenge. Which design do you think will be victorious?

The best part? Celebrating their hard work by making s’mores in their solar ovens! We love seeing students learn through creativity, problem solving, and hands-on experiences. Great job, 5th grade!

JOB POSTING- THIRD GRADE TEACHER:
We are looking to hire a Third Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Please apply online through Teach Iowa or email your resume and cover letter to Dr. Julia Rabe, principal at jrabe@delwood.k12.ia.us.

We invite you to join us Wednesday, May 21 at 2 pm as we recognize our Sixth Grade students and remember their time at Delwood with us while celebrating them as they enter their next chapter in middle school. Juice and cookies will be provided following the recognition ceremony.

Students created homemade bath bombs while learning about chemical reactions, mixing materials, and designing a product that fills a need. We talked about how STEM can be used to create things that help people relax, feel cared for, and solve everyday problems.
This project combined creativity, engineering, and science as students tested ingredients and worked through the design process step-by-step. Plus, they were excited to make a special Mother’s Day gift to take home!
A huge thank you to the wonderful families and supportive community that make these hands-on learning experiences possible for our students!

Crawdads, mosquitos, and frogs oh my! Last week, 3rd and 4th grade students had the opportunity to brainstorm ideas to add some visual flair to their concert music. With ideas ranging from holding stars, staff in costume, marching off stage, and suspending friends from the ceiling, we certainly had some colorful conversation! We worked together to combine actions and visual ideas to allow students to present their own creative takes on the songs. We are excited to perform for our school and community this Thursday, May 7th!

Throughout the year, Mrs. DeMoss has had the incredible opportunity to lead two amazing groups: 3-D Pens and Paper Crafts! Watching students explore their creativity and showcase their unique talents has been truly inspiring.
From imaginative designs to hands-on creations, these students have absolutely thrived—and had a blast doing it! We are proud of their hard work, creativity, and willingness to try new things.

Mrs. Kieffer’s third grade class did it—they filled up their marble jar and earned their well-deserved reward: Flashlight Friday! 🔦📚
Through teamwork, kindness, and hard work, this class showed what it means to support one another and stay focused on their goals. Recently, they got to cozy up with a good book and read by flashlight—a simple reward that felt extra special because they earned it together.
So proud of them for their positive choices and classroom spirit. Keep shining bright, third grade! 💛

Today, we celebrate the incredible leadership, dedication, and heart our principal brings to our school each and every day. Thank you for supporting our students, uplifting our staff, and creating a positive place where everyone can grow and succeed.

Students had the opportunity to buy temporary tattoos for their teachers, and our staff proudly wore their designs throughout the day. It was a simple, fun way to raise money and have fun!
Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event. We appreciate your help in making it a success.
