All of us here at Delwood would like to give a great big shout out to all the grandparents who made this year's Grandparent's Day a huge success. We would also like to give an enormous thank you to those who came as volunteer grandparents! We appreciate all the kindness you shared with so many that day. We've included some pictures for everyone to see all the smiles on the faces of not only our students, but the grandparents as well. Thank you for making this day special!

The third grade TAG group started the year by reading the book Nerdycorn by Andrew Root. They considered some of their personal strengths and how those strengths help them in their lives for their very own "nerdy" animal drawing and description. In the book, the main character, Fern, creates a machine to make ice cream, so we made ice cream as well (but in a simpler way)!

It's hard to believe we have been in school for nearly one month! We experienced some extreme heat the first few days of school, which kept us inside for recess. Luckily students had some awesome activities to keep them busy, thanks to our amazing PTO who donated items for us to use when the weather keeps us inside!

The 2nd grade class put on their safety goggles and became "mad scientists" in STEM this past week. Following the scientific method, they defined a question, made predictions, conducted an experiment, made observations, and drew conclusions. Judging from their expressions, they may have been a bit surprised that this crazy, fun experiment was done using common household items.

The Maquoketa Athletic Boosters would like you to consider volunteering your time at one, or more of the shifts available at this summers baseball/softball concessions. Last year our club profited almost $9000 from these concessions alone, and it isn't possible without the help of our athletes families. Our club generously provides for our athletes every year and we could really use your help. Please copy this address to sign up - https://signup.com/go/GQsjDCa. Thank you in advance for all you do for our athletes. If you have any questions please feel free to email Sheila Pauls at spauls1020@hotmail.com and she can assist you in signing up.
